POTTERY HOT LIKE JUNGLE

Making a leap from the jagged post-punk we've come to associate Partisan signings Pottery with, the third single from the Montreal band's forthcoming debut album Welcome To Bobby's Motel is a contrastingly soppy affair (and we mean that in the best possible way). Sporting swooning lead vocals and honeyed harmonies, seductive bass parts wiggle around roomy drums as washy guitars and 80s-inspired synth sounds add to 'Hot Like Jungle's fuzzy sense of nostalgia. Speaking on the song’s inspiration, the band explained: “This was written as a love song for Paul’s girlfriend. He had a job working construction one summer and came up with the lyrics almost as a sort of Springsteen parody, they’re very blue-collar. When Austin sings it we always picture him on a mountain shouting off into the distance with a girl out there singing back to him.” Welcome To Bobby's Motel will arrive on the 26th of June. -Holly Mullineaux
